It's about time to update with some photos.
Uncle Andy stopped by to visit (on his way to the Packer game last weekend... you know, the game they actually WON).
Tiny little hand
Upgraded to a crib!
I haven’t mentioned this before, but note Micah’s left hand. All four fingers cut off below the first joint (his thumb is fine). This apparently has no correlation to any of his other diagnoses. The assumption is that it was caused by “amniotic banding” and occurred in utero during the first trimester. I was so sad about it but now I’ve grown to love that hand because it's Micah's. And when I was telling Shannon about it the day after Micah was born, she just smiled at me and said something to the effect of, “Of all your children to have something like this, it’s better that it’s him, because he won’t care.” She also helped to relieve my concerns over it being just one more thing that children will mock him about. She told me that the other children don’t mock her Jonny for anything. Shannon, thank you for sharing with me. It’s definitely helped. Here’s the entourage coming down the hallway.
Pop and Grammie get to hold Micah for the first time.

Micah with Mommy and Nathan
Mommy’s first attempt at a bath for Micah… he didn’t care much for the sponging off part, but he really enjoyed the hair wash.
After the bath, we had some kangaroo time. For about five minutes he just looked up at me in wide-eyed wonder. Then he proceeded to snooze (including snoring) for over an hour. Something about his face in this photo reminded me of his cousin, Mary. Could it be the cheeks? This photo is of Mary when she was almost a year old (she’s five today! Happy Birthday, Mary!).

Hi Jennie,
Thanks for all the pictures. I've been anxious to see them. Shannon is right about Micah's hand. I had a student named Daniel who was missing some digits on one of his hands. The other students thought it was cool, and so did Daniel. No mocking.
He really is a cutie and I'm glad you're getting some more bonding in with him, and that he's in a crib. Baby steps, but pretty big ones!
Love,
Amy
I love the pictures!! He's just beautiful!
We're headed back to MKE on Weds, so I'd love to come meet him if you're still there. I'll give you a call - Thursday?
oh he's so cute! and so tiny.. seem he has so many people who loves him.
He's a handsome little guy!
Love the updated pictures. He looks like he is doing well. Hang in there! The least the Packers could have done was win, right? Oh well...
Great pictures... and my parents are still mourning the Packer's loss. :0
Thanks for the pictures!!! He is so adorable! Keep the pics coming!
My name is Holly Bender and I am a friend of a friend of a Amy's. :) I have been reading your blog since Amy posted about Micah being born. He is so precious. I just read what you wrote about his left hand and my three boys each have hand "differences", as they call them. My 3 year old's pinkie & ring finger bones are joined together in his hands, causing his pinkies to really stick out. They just kind of hang there. He has no use of them as far as we can tell, as certain nerves aren't even there because of the bones that are fused, leaving no room for those nerves. He still hasn't noticed that they are different from other peoples' hands. I was so upset about this when he was born. It must be genetic because my identical twin boys who are 17 months each have one hand with the same problem. However, we don't know of anyone in our families with the same thing. Who knows why these things happen, but I just have to remind myself that God made my boys just the way they are for a reason. He formed them and nothing about them is a mistake.
I LOVE the photos. Micah, you are too cute! I love the pic where it looks like Micah has a little pout because it reminds me so much of Erin. It looks like he's getting bigger too. Is that an NG tube I see? Wondering if there's any progress in the plumbing department...is he able to start eating? Jennie, it's funny, but I have grown to love those characteristics that are unique to DS, or to Erin. The thick skin on the back of her neck is just so sweet, and her low tone is soft to cuddle. It will be the same with Micah's fingers, as you said, because they are unique, and they are his, created by God. He is just adorable. Kris
Micah is truly beautiful! I love those sweet cheeks.
Seriously, could he be more adorable! I love the picture of him in kangaroo time with mommy! I can not wait to meet the fella!
he is SO cute...says Miss Ciarra!
Congrats, I have been slacking on visiting, imagine my surprise! Beautiful, and you sound GREAT! :)
